Our Drive It Day run for 2022 was organised and ably led as always by Tony and Margaret Brinsden and we met at our usual rendezvous in Whitland in glorious Spring sunshine.
After a quick catch up 14 cars headed off and unusually turned right at the main road in Whitland to head towards Haverfordwest on the A40.
At Penblewin Roundabout we turned north onto the A478 towards Cardigan and gave Cyril and Megan a “toot” as they waved all the cars through from their garden in Clunderwen. We continued to Glandy Cross before turning off onto the Mynachlogddu road.
We turned left in the village and passed Waldo Williams’ monument on the common below the Preseli Hills and had views of the highest of the Preseli Hills, Foel Cwmcerwyn, against a cloudless blue sky .Continuing on the minor road along the edge of Glynaeron Wood we reached the junction with the B4313 south of Rosebush.
At the New Inn crossroads we turned right onto the B4329 towards Cardigan and climbed up to the car park and viewpoint at Bwlch Gwynt . As we dropped down the from this high point we enjoyed the extensive panorama of the coast to the north. Joining the A487 at the Penfro Garage filling station we turned right towards Eglwyswrw and passed through the village turning off onto the minor road that brought us to the crossroads at Rhoshill.
Turning right on the A478 we climbed south towards Crymych before turning left and passing through Boncath eventually reaching our “comfort” stop at Cenarth.
After a welcome stretching of the legs and “watering” of the horses we continued south on minor roads leading us to Trelech then on to Meidrim eventually arriving in Bancyfelin at the end of an enjoyable 65 mile run at The Fox and Hounds where we had a good lunch.
