Whitland Classic Motor Club ‘Carmarthenshire County Run’. 15th May 2016.
his year’s County run attracted 120 entries, with 99 cars actually taking part in the run.
Vehicles started to arrive at the Whitland Rugby Club car park soon after 9.00am to sign-in in readiness for a staggered start commencing at 10.00am.
It was a beautiful day, and lovely to see the hoods down on the sports cars and convertibles.
The run started off towards Meidrim, through to the east side of Carmarthen and on to country roads and lanes, passing Paxtons Tower and Dryslwyn Castle onwards to Trap.
After Trap through some narrow roads to Brynamman where the run continued on the Mountain Road over the top of the Black Mountains. Lovely views lots of parking areas and a lovely place to stop for a break.
Travelling down from the mountain, some more spectacular scenery with the streams running off the mountains.
The route then takes you through Bethlehem on to Ffairfach and in the Cross Hands direction.
The route then diverts past Dryslwyn Castle onto a short stretch of the A40 to Nantgeredig and turning off towards Brechfa. The road goes through Brechfa Forest, another nice resting point, onwards towards Bronwydd / Gwili Railway.
From here back through Carmarthen towards St Clears and on to Whitland, finishing at The Whitland Rugby Club car park.
A fantastic run, super company, lovely scenery, beautiful weather and 109 miles clocked up – what a wonderful day.
Make a note in your diary for next year, mid-May, and come and join us on another ‘County Run’.
Members from all clubs welcome.
